September Meeting: Appraisal Practices
The September Chapter Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The Board of Directors will meet at 5:00 pm; all ASA members are welcome. The general meeting starts at 6:30. The guest speaker will be ASA Philadelphia Chapter member John S. Marrazzo, ASA, a Collingswood, NJ real property appraiser who serves on the Appraisal Practices Board of the Appraisal Foundation. The Board is responsible “for identifying and issuing opinions on Recognized Valuation Methods and Techniques, which may apply to all disciplines within the appraisal profession.”
Mr. Marrazzo is also active in other professional organizations, including the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, where he is a Past President, and recipient of NAIFA's Appraiser of the Year (2003) award. John is an Instructor for NAIFA and for the Camden County College, designing and teaching courses in various aspects of appraisal practice. His talk is sure to be interesting and applicable to all appraisal disciplines.
A second highlight of the September meeting will be annual presentation of the Chapter's George Sinclair Professionalism Award. The award was created in 2003 in memory of George D. Sinclair, FASA, (1925-2005) “to recognize an individual, not necessarily a member of the Chapter, whose actions have enhanced the appraisal profession.”
