PICPA Seminar: Valuations for Tax Purposes

The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) The Pennyslvania Institute of Certified Public Accountantswill offer a daylong seminar, Valuations for Tax Purposes, at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield , PA 19064 on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Presenters will include Rod P. Burkert CPA/ABV, CVA, Scott P. Borsack, Esq., and John J. Barton, CPA, ASA. The seminar will include a Business Valuation case study, an update on case law relating to valuation practice, and a discussion of the Pension Protection Act. October 2008: USPAP Update Course

USPAP 7-HR Update CourseThe Philadelphia ASA Chapter will offer the 7-hour Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) Update Course on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The course will be conducted by Robert J. Luciani, ASA, an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor, and past ASA Regional Governor, J. Mark Penny, ASA of Hempstead & Co., Inc. in Somerdale, New Jersey. The course, which is required for all ASA members and all State Licensed Real Property Appraisers, is for appraisers who have already completed the full USPAP course. It covers critical changes and revisions to USPAP that significantly impact every practicing appraiser. Registration is at 8:30 am; the class is from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The cost is $129 per person.
