January Breakfast Meeting: Sports Collectibles with Ted Taylor
The January Breakfast Meeting will be held on January 18, 2012 at 8:00 am at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The guest speaker will be sports enthusiast, educator, writer, and collector Ted Taylor, who will talk about “Sports Collectibles.”
A life-long baseball fan and collector of baseball cards and sports memorabilia, Ted Taylor is a Philadelphia phenomenon known for his frequent radio and TV appearances and for the magazine articles, newspaper columns and books he has written about his passion for over 35 years. His books include The Ultimate Philadelphia Athletics Reference Book, 1901-1954 and Philadelphia Athletics by the Numbers: Let's Give Skeeters #2. The first President of the Eastern Pennsylvania Sports Collectors Club and co-founding President of the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society, Ted was an expert witness in the Federal Anti-Trust suit (Fleer vs. Topps) that revolutionized the baseball card industry. A career educator, he has been a college teacher, baseball coach, administrator and athletics director at Philadelphia-area schools. A co-promoter of the Philadelphia Baseball Card & Sports Memorabilia Shows, Ted currently operates TTA Authentic LLC, an Abington, PA "full service hobby organization" providing sports and celebrity authentications, acquisitions, liquidations, marketing and public relations.
Ted Taylor’s talk about sports collectibles, including price fluctuations, and rampant forgeries, is sure to be illuminating, and qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit.
