REVISED: March Meeting: Biofeedback Applications
The March Chapter Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA The Board of Directors will meet at 5:00 pm; all ASA members are welcome. The general meeting starts at 6:30. The guest speaker will be Marvin H. Berman, Ph.D., President of the QuietMind Foundation in Plymouth Meeting, PA, who will talk about "Neurofeedback Training: A New Way to Treat Brain Disorders."
Mr. Berman was originally scheduled to address the Chapter in May and has graciously agreed, on short notice, to address the March meeting after Ted Taylor ran into a scheduling conflict. Plans for the May meeting and a new date for Mr. Taylor are in progress.
Marvin Berman earned his B.S. in Social Welfare and Psychology at the Empire State College, State University of New York and his M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Group Psychology at Temple University. He has conducted research into the use of EEG neurofeedback to treat fronto-temporal dementia, ADHD, and Alzheimer's and lectured, primarily on EEG and group dynamics, at local schools, including Lehigh, Temple, Wharton and Widener Universities and Jefferson Medical and Chestnut Hill Colleges. He has also consulted for State and Federal Agencies on a variety of topics, currently as an organizational consultant and coach for the National Park Service. He says " The goal of my work is to help people reach their peak performance" using drug-free, non-invasive techniques.
Mr. Berman's presentation will introduce an area of applied psychology that is sure to be interesting and may even be personally rewarding. Please register early for this educational and productive evening which qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit.
